Living in a sunny state definitely has its advantages. Using solar energy saves a bundle on the electric bill. So why aren't more people using it? Cost is the problem for most people. An average sized home with air conditioning, pool etc. can cost upwards of $25,000. A lot of years go by before the savings makes up for the cost. However, homeowners can take advantage of smaller solar uses, like outdoor lights, and solar radios (handy in an emergency). Can they install solar panels themselves? Sure, as long as a licensed electrician hooks up the power.
